Double-check the key was copied without extra spaces, and that the site hasn't already used all of its seats (check your plan's seat count on the pricing page). If activation still fails, email support@workingcopywp.com with the key and the exact error shown.

This is expected behavior, not a bug — when a trial ends or a license lapses, Pro features (publishing, version history, publication history, role permissions) switch off immediately and the site falls back to the free feature set. Nothing is deleted. Renewing or activating a valid key restores Pro right away. See terms for the full renewal policy.

Confirm the plugin is active under Plugins → Installed Plugins, and that you're viewing a page, post, or public custom post type — the panel appears in the block editor sidebar or, in the classic editor, as a meta box below the content area.

Working Copy Pro compares against the sync baseline recorded when the working copy was created, and ignores purely cosmetic markup differences. If you believe detection is wrong on a specific page, email support@workingcopywp.com — a description of what changed on each side helps us reproduce it quickly.

On sites with role-based permissions configured (Pro), an administrator sets which roles can create, review, and publish from Working Copy Pro → Settings. Ask your site admin to check that page. WordPress's own per-post edit permissions always apply as well.

The free features make no external requests. License activation, the free trial, and a daily license validation check contact our license server — that traffic stops as soon as you deactivate your license. No page content is ever transmitted.
